Saiga is founded by Karl Moritz Hermann who was previously CEO of the AI research company Dark Blue Labs (sold to Google) and a senior staff researcher at DeepMind. We are backed by some of Europe’s most ambitious VCs and experienced Angel investors, giving us the runway and support to build a category-defining and impactful company.

The role

Working together with Karl Moritz and our engineering team you will lead the development and deployment of our core machine learning pipeline. This pipeline is a key component to our product and your work will directly affect all other aspects of our business.

From an ML perspective, the main initial focus of your work will be centred around OCR, NLP, document understanding and classification. Over time we will build an ML team around you and the set of topics will broaden alongside that growth.

As our first ML engineer you will take responsibility for our pipeline from end-to-end, setting up data collection schemes, implementing and training models, and deploying and monitoring systems in close coordination with the rest of the engineering team.

To succeed you will need to combine theoretical rigour (training data test data) with a practical mindset (don't reinvent the ), demonstrating the pragmatism required to get things done in an early stage startup.

Your profile

  • Revelant Master's degree (or equivalent experience) required
  • 3+ years of experience in machine learning in industry or research
  • Practical experience in OCR, NLP or information extraction
  • Experience building on, deploying, and maintaining ML systems in production environments
  • Ability to write clean and maintainable code and documentation
